The Role
A predominantly office based role in our Product Application
Development working on Hornbill Service Management's browser and
form based business applications.
This role would suit a professional with the creative ability to design and develop applications. The ability to think outside of the box is a must.
Ideally educated to degree level, you will have a demonstrable track record for a number of years in a similar role developing business applications using the technologies listed below. You should be able to demonstrate an in-depth understanding of the skill set required.
The products Hornbill produce make use of a large amount of web based content using AJAX/Web 2.0 and application designable forms (similar to Visual Basic).
This role includes specifying, designing and delivering the core business applications that Hornbill market and sell as well as the sustaining activities for the same. The role will call upon your expertise and knowledge in order to provide support other departments, including Hornbill's support and consultancy teams.
The successful candidate will be involved in the creation and development of a number of new and on-going projects, building comprehensive, leading edge business applications in the IT and Customer service management arena.
Knowledge, Skills or Abilities
Mandatory
- GUI Form Design (such as visual basic)
- AJAX and/or Web 2.0 (DOM / DHTML / JavaScript)
- XML (Scripting with XMLDOM)
- Cross browser experience
- PHP (ASP skills acceptable)
- General XML/SOAP/Web services Architecture
- SQL, requires a thorough understanding of SQL Query and Schema creation
- Database Experience (MySql, Oracle, MS SQL)
- Have a structured approach to problem analysis combined with solid design methodologies.
- Experience in requirements gathering and documentation
- Good Understanding of Testing and QA
Desirable
- Understanding of a Project Life Cycle.
- General Client/Server Architecture.
- A good eye for detail and interface presentation.
- Awareness of performance implications due to coding methods
- Familiarity of Agile Development methodologies an advantage
- Qualified to ITIL Foundation level
